Quite simply put, your jewellery will be more secure with us. We'll be able to carry out the work quicker than most high street services. And you'll get a true master of the craft, not a faceless service.

Nightingale Works is an entirely in-house service. You drop your ring off at our York showroom and it doesn't leave the premises. So there's no risk of it getting lost in transit and you won't need to wait weeks to get it back.

  • How long does a ring resize take?
  • Generally speaking we can turnaround a ring resizing in 2 - 3 days. In certain circumstances we may need to order specific materials for you which can extend this slightly, but we'll fully inform you if this is the case.
  • How much does a ring resizing cost?
  • This depends on the type of metal and complexity of your design, but a rough estimate starts would be £80 for a typical ring.
  • My ring band is diamond set. Can it still be resized?
  • More often than not it won't be a problem, but for some designs making the band smaller can affect how securely the diamonds are held in place. A quick chat with our goldsmith will make
  • What types of jewellery can you repair?
  • As you'd expect rings are our speciality, but we're also comfortable with earrings, necklaces and bracelets. We don't accept watch repairs, but can recommend some excellent alternatives in the local area.
  • What types of alterations can you do?
  • We can make small changes to make a piece fit better or hold a different gemstone, all the way to complete overhauls.

    In fact some of the pieces which we're most proud of are where we've taken family heirlooms and modernised them to be worn by a new generation. Get in touch to see what we can do for you.
  • How do you keep my jewellery secure?
  • Once we have your jewellery it will stay locked in our safe unless our goldsmith is working on it. It won't leave the showroom and will be included under our comprehensive insurance policy.
